This year marks the one hundred and sixty-fourth anniversary of the discovery of gold in California.

Due to the price of Gold reaching historic levels over $1600 an ounce, California cities and towns around the state will be hosting and celebrating the event that lured tens of thousands of adventurers to stampede to her "golden" soil. San Francisco and Oakland have opened exhibits and walking tours of famous sites associated with the discovery are planned. This Spring and Summer, gold rush towns up and down the Motherlode will again lure travelers from near and far to a series of fairs, exhibits, demonstrations and parades to celebrate California's rich history. Once again visitors and adventurers will be flocking west to relive the past, join the festivities and participate, first hand, in the thrill of prospecting for gold! Best of all, satellite photo-imaging technology confirm that the early miners only scratched the surface.

It has been estimated that that 75%-85% of the gold remains undiscovered!

These last few winter's heavy rains combined with a heavy snowpack will be a bonus to gold-seekers. The eroding force of the Spring runoff will cause an abundant amount of new gold to be broken loose and re deposited in all of our state's gold-bearing mountain rivers and streams, once again, replenishing our streams and leading to fresh, new discoveries. This is your chance to find a gold nugget!

The historic coincidence of this event with the planned statewide celebrations of the 164th anniversary of the discovery of gold in 1848 and subsequent "rush" of 1849, will undoubtedly again cause tremendous excitement and interest in folks across the country in this precious metal this spring and summer.

This will surely be a memorable year .....You can find GOLD!
